Electron Microscope Building, Linköping
Tham & Videgård Arkitekter
Tham & Videgård Arkitekter have designed a new building at the Linköping
University to house an electron microscope that will be installed at
the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The unique instrument
is extremely sensitive to vibrations, sound and electromagnetic fields,
which is why a new separate building was needed. It’s primarily the research
department of Material Physics that will benefit from the new microscope,
but also visiting foreign researchers. Building permission was granted
in december 2010, completion is planned for late 2011. The facades and
roof are clad in 1,650m2 of our G1finish titanium.
